Speeches are a great way to express ourselves and to provide our opinions and messages to the restive the world. Its a form of expression with the purpose of changing peoples mind. He delivered one of the most famous speeches of our times. A speech with a beautiful message that certainly non of us will forget.
Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a civil-rights activist, with impact on race relations in united states. His main goal was to end the legal segregation of African-Americans. Doctor King delivered his speech “I Have a Dream” on the march on Washington August 28, 1963, on the steps of the Lincoln memorial. In that day, the speech was delivered to all the community. His speech was addressed mainly to the political figures, since his goal was to abolish legal segregation. In the other hand it was also for the black and white adults. men and women of the community.
His message was strong and powerful. His words could be felt. He talked about how he dreamed about a world with discrimination. He inspired people and gave them hope that things could be better; once segregation was abolished. He made it clear that we are people regardless of the pigment of our skin. therefore, we should all me treated as one. The way he delivered the speech was good and bad. I like the power you could hear in his voice. His persuasion and the emotion appeal to people. His voice was laud and clear. so his verbal communication was effective.
Nonverbal communication is an important factor such as verbal communication. If you see Doctor King’s speech you will notice that even when his verbal communication was rich, his nonverbal communication was really poor. nonverbal communication is useful in order to keep the attention of the audience. It is also important in order to reaffirm maybe feelings or facts said on the speech. In order to have a well done speech you need a balance between both of this factors.
Martin Luther King Jr. delivered a beautiful speech many years ago. A speech that still today forms part of our most important days of our history. When delivering a speech take into consideration the aspects mentioned before about Doctor King’s speech. For other who plan on delivering a speech as successful and his, you can consider working on the nonverbal communication. For instance, try to look more often at your audience. when trying to make a strong point make hand movements. stand firm just like Doctor King did.
